The Fall 2018 Fashion Week MN Lineup Is Here
Fashion Week MN (FWMN) will host its fall edition on September 23-29, 2018. Every spring and fall, FWMN organizes a week-long installment of events showcasing the designers, brands, retailers, producers, stylists, artists, influencers, models, photographers and other creatives who are elevating the Minnesota style scene.
This fall, expect another exciting lineup that showcases the work of local fashion veterans and fresh up-and-coming talent. Returning events include the Minnstafashion kickoff event hosted by longtime FWMN partner, W Minneapolis; Fashion Group International of MSP’s luxe annual fashion show, Fall Into Luxury; and a body-positive fashion celebration produced by local retailer Cake Plus-Size Resale.
This fall’s lineup emphasizes the diverse talent within the local fashion community, including people of color, LGBTQ+ people, and the body positive movement. For the first time, the 12th annual Fresh Traditions fashion show joins the Fashion Week MN lineup. Presented by the St. Paul–based Center for Hmong Arts & Talent (CHAT), the runway show features contemporary fashion collections by Hmong-American designers. This year’s lineup also features the 15th annual Full Fashion Panic fashion show, which visually explores the connections between anime, manga and fashion as part of the long-running Mechademia conference at MCAD.
Additional highlights include a collaborative runway show featuring Northside retailer and barbershop, Black Excellence by HWMR (Houston White Menswear) and Nigerian-born designer Aisha Umar’s label, Fulbekloset; the debut of The Lookbook, an exclusive, seasonal marketplace for local fashion designers; and Local Coterie, a new runway show concept featuring fall collections by top Minnesota fashion brands.
“The mission of FWMN is to foster an interconnected, inclusive local fashion community that celebrates and supports the established Minnesota fashion industry and breed opportunity for those emerging on the scene,” says FWMN co-founder Sarah Edwards.
This fall’s lineup features a whopping 24 events—double that of previous seasons. “This year’s expanded lineup helps give additional voice to emerging talent and the diversity of the Minnesota fashion community, and truly showcases a cross-section of local fashion,” explains FWMN co-founder Jahna Peloquin.
