Announcing AWAKE: FWMN Spring 2021

January 18, 2021

Fashion Week MN (FWMN) is pleased to announce the return of #FashionWeekMN for Spring 2021. Over the past year, we dug deep into our mission, vision, values and focused on how we can best serve the community.  We had a lot of conversations with many people over the last few months.  Thank you all for your feedback and patience while we reimagine the next stage of Fashion Week MN.

The theme for Spring 2021 is AWAKE and the dates will be April 28 – May 1, 2021.  We are looking forward to sharing more details about our theme, our approach to this coming season, and opportunities to get involved over the next few weeks.

We also are carefully following the developments of COVID-19, while being mindful of the broad impact this pandemic has on our day-to-day lives, our businesses and our community.  We remain respectful of everyone’s priorities during this time and are currently working hard to make sure events through FWMN will be safe and accessible to the community.  Keep checking back here for updates.

What will Fashion Week MN Spring 2021 look like during COVID?

Due to the ongoing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions, Fashion Week MN Spring 2021 season will look a little different than previous seasons.  Our lineup will consist of a limited number of events that will include a mixture of digital and smaller, socially-distanced in-person experiences.  Designers and producers will have the opportunity to apply to be part of FWMN Spring 2021 and indicate whether they want to do a digital or in-person event.  We hope that digital events will allow designers and brands the opportunity to display more artistic freedom, cleverly showcasing pieces through different media.

All applications will be reviewed regardless of event type.  While there will not be set limits on the number of digital vs. in-person events selected, attention to COVID-19 safety precautions and planning will be a critical part of our application review process and we ask applicants to clearly outline their plans to make their proposed event safe for all.

As the pandemic continues, we will continue to work with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the governor’s office to understand the protocols needed in order to have events and adjust in-person events based on the most up-to-date information available.

Will the in-person events be safe?

For in-person events, FWMN will host low-capacity, socially distanced events based on the most current COVID restriction protocols in place.  Masks will be required at all in-person events and temperatures will be taken for guests upon arrival.  Additional screening policies will also be enforced and will require all guests, participants and staff to stay home if you:

  • have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 14 days, such as fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing
  • have had a positive COVID-19 diagnostic test (nasal swab test) in the last 14 days
  • are currently on self-quarantine restrictions.

Additionally, screening policies will be updated based on the most up-to-date information available through the CDC and MDH.

What is FWMN?

Fashion Week MN (FWMN) is a community-driven initiative celebrating the talent of the Minnesota fashion industry and creative community. Every spring and fall, FWMN organizes a week-long installment of events showcasing the designers, brands, retailers, producers, stylists, artists, influencers, models, photographers and other creatives who are elevating the Minnesota style scene. We believe that supporting the local fashion industry helps develop strong connections between local retailers, brands, designers, makers, advocates and consumers, helping in turn to strengthen the local economy. Fashion Week MN was founded in fall 2015 by Jahna Peloquin and Sarah Edwards. Learn more at, and follow Fashion Week MN on Facebook at, and @fashionweekmn on Instagram and Twitter.
